Personal statements require the most thought when writing a CV as they make your CV  distinct from other people's.

Be sure to observe expected grammar standards and use capital letters for the first letter of Proper nouns such as place names (e.g. James, Auckland).  When using an online application forms is is important to know that any spelling or grammatical errors will stand out to the person who is reading them. 

Ask a teacher or reliable adult to check that you have completed the forms to a satisfactory standard.

Personal Profile Statement – makes you distinct from other applicants

 3 or 4 sentences about 30 words stating

 

  • your current situation
  • career goal or what you want to achieve in the future
  • Think about your uniqueness – perhaps your bilingualism, beliefs, brief summary of experience, club memberships, family responsibilities.

 

 

Statement 1

I am a quiet person who really enjoys looking after young children.  For the last three years I always cared for my younger brother after school while my parents worked.  I am fluent in French and want to travel to France after gaining my degree in early childhood education.

Statement 2

I am a recent school leaver looking to gain experience in landscaping. I enjoy working outside with my hands and have experience in a range of labouring activities such as horticulture and property maintenance.

 

Statement 3

In 2011 I completed NCEA Level 1 with merit and now I am aiming to achieve level 2 with excellence.  I have worked part-time for McDonalds St Lukes for one year. I have a proven track record in customer service as well as commitment, energy and a real enthusiasm for surf life-saving.

I am currently looking for part-time employment as a call centre worker in the Auckland region

 

Statement 4

I am an undergraduate looking to develop my sales and management talents alongside an internationally recognised telecommunications firm.  My long-term career goal is to become a telecommunications area manager.

In 2011 I completed NCEA Level 1 with merit and now I am aiming to achieve level 2 with excellence.  I have worked part-time for McDonalds St Lukes for one year. I have a proven track record in customer service as well as commitment, energy and a real enthusiasm for my volunteer St Johns work.
